Research

The National Spasmodic Torticollis Association's mission is to support the needs and well-being of individuals and families affected by spasmodic torticollis (ST), also known as cervical dystonia (CD); to promote awareness and education; and to advance research for better treatments and ultimately a cure.

NSTA's research approach is to award seed grants to projects focusing on dystonic movement disorders that add to the understanding and treatment of ST. Our goal is to find startup projects that can establish a basic principal or insight into the nature of dystonia. A strong result then enables the researcher to apply for and win larger research grants from public and private sources.
