Desert Botanical Garden Outing on Friday, September 26

In addition to being a great source of information, the NSTA symposium is also a great place to hangout with a group of fun people. Last year, a group of us roamed Orlando Sea World walking from exhibit to exhibit while enjoying each other’s company. In 2006, we tried our sea legs out and took a two-hour cruise along Chicago’s magnificent lakefront; taking in the sights of Chicago’s cityscape, enjoyed a bountiful buffet and danced to live music.

This year we are planning a social outing to the Desert Botanical Garden located in beautiful Papago Park on Friday September 26. This is a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the desert while in the company of some really fun people. The Desert Botanical Garden has the world’s largest collection of desert flora in an  outdoor setting spanning over 50 acres. The group will have a guided tour of the area with ample time to take pictures and revisit sites of interest. Visit www.dbg.org for more information on the Desert Botanical Garden. Afterwards we will head to Z-Tejas restaurant to relax and enjoy some American southwestern food. We have it on good authority the frozen margaritas are amazing.

Transportation will be provided. All you need to do is wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. You will need to bring a hat and sunblock. Packing water bottles or Gatorade would be good idea.

If you are interested simply check the box on the registration form (page 12) indicating you plan to attend the outing. If there are additional people accompanying you to the symposium who want to attend, please indicate how many people are going. Admission for the Desert Botanical Garden is $12 per person. Lunch at Z-Tejas is not included with the Admission. Everyone is responsible for their lunch expenses at Z-Tejas restaurant.

We hope you will join us at the Desert Botanical Garden where the air is dry but the company you are with is not!
